Smarter-Companies is a community of knowledge providers and tools that optimize returns on the intangible capital that makes up 80% of corporate value in companies today.

Despite its enormous importance today, most businesspeople lack the basic knowledge and tools needed to optimize intangible capital. This leads to blocked learning, suboptimal performance, stifled innovation and stagnant growth.

• Smarter-Companies Community is a free and open community where experts in all aspects of intangible capital management can learn, share and interact with their peers. Participation in the Community creates collaborative advantage for Smarter-Companies, Smarter Providers and Community Members. The more that each of us contribute to the conversation about intangible capital, the more we help drive awareness of the field and create value in the links from our community back to our members’ and partners’ websites.
• Smarter Providers Marketplace includes tools offered by other organizations. Intangible capital management is today’s core strategic challenge. And no one company has all the answers. The goal of the Marketplace is to educate the market as to the richness and possibilities created by the individuals and organizations represented there.
• Smarter-Companies’ ICounts product line includes both open source and proprietary tools to help measure the importance of intangibles, identify the unique intangible capital of organizations, tap stakeholder wisdom to measure IC and, most importantly, increase the value generated by IC. We work through a network of ICountants, advisors of many sorts who are trained guides to the optimization of IC.

Smarter-Companies was launched in January 2013 but its roots go back many years to the work of Mary Adams in the development of practical intangible capital concepts in U.S. middle market companies, the book she co-authored Intangible Capital—and to the IC Knowledge Center, a site and community first launched in 2006.
