Traditional organization thinking is still rooted in the industrial era. But information technology has sparked two mega-trends that demand change: The first is a knowledge revolution that turns industrial ideas on their head. The second is a communications revolution that enables mass transparency. Governments are not immune from these trends. This new environment requires new approaches to strategy, management and communications.
This session will introduce you to an integrated thinking model that balances performance, purpose, people, partners, processes, property and planet. This model helps us see our organizations as integrated systems.
We’ll start with a quick introduction to these trends and the integrated model. But we’ll quickly shift to examining two examples, The Crown Estate in England and XPX, a small business association in the U.S. Then we’ll turn to a live example from British Columbia and build a simple integrated model for [one function/group/ministry?]. You’ll leave with a roadmap to integrating these ideas into your own organization.
