I understand the concern that the term "knowledge management" had become to many a synonym for "sharepoint" etc., but it worries me that if we just cede the term to the software vendors, will we come up with a permanent term that better describes the domain of managing intangible assets relating to knowledge, or do we just jump from one lily-pad to the next in anticipation of somebody usurping each turn of phrase in turn?
There are thousands of people in jobs with the term "knowledge management" affixed to them, if we collectively abandon the terminology, then what does that mean for those practitioners?
